Norwegian for Foreigners (produced together with NKS-Forlaget) is an interactive course on CDROM designed for all those who have a basic knowledge of Norwegian and who want to improve their spoken Norwegian. Whether you are planning to visit Norway as a tourist, are moving to Norway, or studying Norwegian at the moment this course will help you actively practise spoken Norwegian.

Norwegian for Foreigners

 You can :  

  • Listen to native Norwegian speakers with different accents
  • Listen to a role model who repeats each phrase more slowly
  • Record your own voice one sentence at a time and compare with the above
  • Refer to subtitles in Norwegian and in your own language
  • Subtitles are available in English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish.
  • Role play a character and check yourself against the recording of your role play
  • Select from, and listen to, an additional 200 Useful Expressions
  • Listen to the alphabet, ordinal numbers, cardinal numbers, titles, etc.
  • Print out dialogues in English and your own language
  • Refer to a help manual in in English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish.
  • Consult the Companion Web Site (NorskWeb) which links to online resources such as Norwegian dictionaries, grammars, online courses, and a discussion forum (currently under construction).

Norwegian for Foreigners is made up of 20 dialogues and covers many of the most typical phrases used in everyday life and at work. All the dialogues are spoken by native Norwegian speakers with a variety of regional accents – and there is support in British English, Amercian English, German, Italian, French and Spanish.

The 20 dialogues cover the following situations :
